Awkwafina Awkwafina, an American singer and actress began with humorous rap tracks that dealt with issues of race and sexuality. Her career expanded to Hollywood following the release of a series of raps. Nora Lum, born in Forest Hills Queens to Chinese and Korean immigrants was her very first music experience. She played the trumpet. In the following years, she took up the classical and hip-hop genres. Following a focus on education, she earned the degree of journalist in college and a women's studies specialization. The focus on music until she finished her studies. Her 2012 track My Vag a response to Mickey Avalon's My Dick found viral success on the Internet eventually landing on her debut album Yellow Ranger in 2014. Along with early series like Girl Code, Tawk and Bad Rap she also appeared in films such as Neighbors and Storks. She had a breakthrough role in the year 2018 when she appeared in a number of movies that were highly regarded, such as Dude Ocean's 8 as well as Crazy Rich Asians.
